Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that reshapes or reduces the size of the labia minora (the inner lips of the vulva) for improved comfort, symmetry, or appearance. Some women seek labiaplasty because of physical discomfort during activities like exercise or intimacy, while others wish to address changes from childbirth, aging, or genetics that affect the look and feel of this area.

What Does Labiaplasty Involve?

The process begins with a private, confidential consultation where you and Dr. Klok discuss your concerns, desired results, and medical history. Labiaplasty can address excess tissue, uneven edges, or changes in skin elasticity. The goal is to create a natural, balanced appearance while maintaining sensation and function.

The procedure is tailored to you, whether that means a small adjustment for symmetry or more significant reshaping to improve comfort and confidence.

Benefits of Labiaplasty

  • Reduces discomfort from rubbing or pinching during daily activities, sports, or intimacy

  • Improves symmetry and proportion of the labia

  • Enhances self-confidence in fitted clothing, swimwear, or intimate settings

  • Restores a more youthful or balanced appearance after childbirth or aging

  • Provides a permanent solution to concerns about labial size or shape

The Procedure

Labiaplasty is usually performed under local anesthesia with or without sedation, or general anesthesia if preferred. Excess tissue is carefully trimmed and sculpted, with fine dissolving sutures used to promote healing and minimize scarring.

Patients can return home the same day.

Recovery

Some swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort are normal for the first week. Ice packs, loose clothing, and gentle hygiene help ease recovery. Most patients return to light activities in a few days, but should avoid strenuous exercise, cycling, and sexual activity for 4–6 weeks to allow for full healing.

Results

Results are noticeable once swelling subsides, usually within a few weeks, with continued refinement over a few months. The outcome is a natural, balanced shape that feels more comfortable and confident.  The scarring is typically not noticeable once you are healed.

Is Labiaplasty Right for You?

You may be a good candidate for labiaplasty if:

  • You experience physical discomfort from enlarged or uneven labia

  • You feel self-conscious about the appearance of your labia in certain clothing or during intimacy

  • Childbirth, aging, or genetics have changed the look or feel of the area

  • You are in good overall health and have realistic expectations about the results

A confidential consultation will help determine if labiaplasty is the right choice for your needs and goals.
