Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty
Upper eyelid surgery can help your eyes look brighter, more open, and refreshed. Over time, the skin on the upper lids may stretch or sag, creating a hooded appearance that can make you look more tired than you feel. In some cases, this extra skin can even begin to block your vision.
During the procedure, Dr. Klok carefully removes the excess skin to smooth and rejuvenate the eyelid contour. This surgery is designed to help you look like the most rested, vibrant version of yourself.

What Does Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty Involve?

Upper eyelid blepharoplasty targets the upper eyelids to remove excess tissue. It involves a precise surgical incision along the natural crease of the upper eyelid, where any scars will be less noticeable. Dr. Klok will remove excess skin to create a more youthful, natural and refreshed look.

Benefits of Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty
-
Youthful, refreshed appearance: The procedure can smooth wrinkles, reduce puffiness, and help the eyes appear less tired and more vibrant.
-
Reduced hooding: Removes excess skin that may be causing the eyelids to droop, giving the eyes a more open and alert appearance.
-
Improved vision: For some patients, excess skin on the eyelids can obstruct peripheral vision. Blepharoplasty can improve vision by lifting the eyelids and removing the obstruction.
-
Minimal scarring: Incisions are made in the natural folds of the eyelid, minimizing visible scarring and ensuring a subtle, natural-looking result.

The Procedure
-
Anesthesia: Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is typically performed under local anesthesia, with or without sedation.
-
Marking for Surgery: This is the most important part of the surgery! Dr. Klok will spend time prior to surgery marking the incisions to ensure meticulous and symmetric skin excision.
-
Incisions: The surgeon makes incisions along the natural fold of the upper eyelid. Excess skin is carefully removed. Sometimes extra fat in the inner upper eyelid area is partially removed.
-
Closing the incisions: The incisions are precisely closed with sutures, which are typically removed within 5-7 days after the procedure.

Recovery & Results
-
Recovery time: Most patients experience mild swelling and bruising around the eyes for a few days to a week. Most can return to work and regular activities within 7-10 days, although it’s recommended to avoid strenuous activities for about 3-4 weeks.
-
Post-operative care: Cold compresses, eye drops, and over-the-counter pain relievers can help manage discomfort and reduce swelling.
-
Final results: Once swelling and bruising subside, the final results are visible. The eyes look more rested, alert, and youthful, but also still very natural.
