Liposuction

Liposuction is a procedure done to contour the body and remove discrete areas of fat.  Liposuction can be done as a procedure on its own or in conjunction with another procedure.  It can be performed on various areas, including the abdomen, lateral chest or breast, thighs, hips, arms, and back.

The process involves the surgeon making small incisions in the targeted area and using a thin tube called a cannula to break up and suction out fat.  The procedure is typically done under general anesthesia. Recovery time varies, but most people can return to normal activities within a week or two, though some swelling and bruising may occur.  You can typically resume your workout routine around 3-4 weeks post surgery.

While liposuction provides a more sculpted body shape, it's not a weight-loss solution, and results are best maintained through a healthy lifestyle.  It is an excellent procedure for those stubborn areas of fat that just do not budge no matter what you do.  It is very important that you have excellent skin quality in the areas you want to have treated with liposuction, and so Dr. Klok will review your area(s) of concerns in detail during consultation and determine if this procedure is right for you.
